That web page has good information on the location of the cookies. I followed the directions and deleted all the cookies that had "ad" or "doubleclick" in the name. There were also hundreds of files after the cookies. I also deleted the files that had "ad" or "doubleclick" in the name.

Cookies identify who you are, when you visit a web site. Deleting the cookies will not damage the computer, but web sites you visit will not know who you are and you will need to re-register.
