Printer settings
Set the default printer and properties.
Start; settings; printers.
Right click on the printer (such as the Epson 740) that you want to be
the default printer; properties
Click on the circle in front of color or black, for whichever you want to
be the preference. I like color, but several people have encouraged me to
use black as the default, to save colored ink. This setting mostly affects
printing pages from the internet.
Click on the arrow to the right of the box below "media".
Choose "360 dpi ink jet paper". You should be using ink jet paper.
It is available inexpensively at Office Depot and Staples. I buy a boxes
with five or ten reams.
When you want to print pictures, do this:
Use Epson Photo Paper (S041141) instead of regular ink jet paper.
File; print; properties. Choose color. Click on the arrow to the right of
the box below "media". Choose "Photo Quality Ink Jet
Paper". In the "Mode" area, change the marker to the center
(Photo - 720 dpi) or left (Photo - 1440 dpi) setting. I use the Photo - 720
dpi settings because it is faster and I didn't see a difference with the
Photo - 1440 dpi setting. There could be a difference on some photos, but
not the one I used as a test.
I think you have to do this for each picture, or the next print reverts
to the default settings, but I don't recall. The program might retain the
color, paper, and dpi settings for the next pictures you print, before you
close the program. Your changed settings get lost when you close the
program, so you will have to change the settings again the next time you
load the program. |
