Arthur Carl Melford Kuhn
Arthur M. Kuhn was born born
on February 16, 1883, in Red Wing, Minnesota. His father was
Ferdinand Ludwig Kuhn, born October 30, 1858, in Hay Creek
Township. Goodhue County, Minnesota. His mother was Victoria
Olivia Tolve (Tolf) born September 11, 1861, in Attica, Indiana.
Arthur had one sister, Frances Lillian, born in 1891 and one
brother, John Norman, born in 1902.
After graduation from Red Wing High School in 1900, he enrolled
in the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. Two of his
professors, Bachman and Butters, by name, were also my professors
while at the College of Pharmacy. Arthur was vice-president of his
class which numbered twenty.
During the next four years, he gained experience in retail
pharmacy through employment at F.M. Parker Drug Store in St. Paul,
Bryant Drug in St. Cloud and Rietzke Pharmacy in St. Paul.
In 1906, Arthur returned to Red Wing to enter into partnership
with J.E. Kyllo in a drug store on the corner of Main and Bush
Streets. He bought out J.E. Kyllo and became sole owner in 1908. |
